Standardized road access controls for amphibians and mammals
Description:
The dynamic expansion of the Polish road network has placed many habitats of amphibians, reptiles, birds and mammals directly adjacent to road traffic routes. Periodic migration and movement across roadways have increased the mortality rate of animals. The solution to contain the issue are animal access control systems for roads. Rotomat has practical experience in the design and on-site deployment of specific road access control solutions. Supported by its qualified team, Rotomat can design customised – and select optimum solutions for – access controls (prefabricated plastic fencing, metal fences or pre-cast concrete barriers). The projects Rotomat has completed so far, and the references from them, demonstrate the superior quality of Rotomat’s solutions and compliance with strict technical standards.
Completed projects:
GDDKiA (General Directorate for National Roads and Highways), Wrocław office:
- Installation of a continuous animal control separation system to reduce amphibian mortality on the A4 motorway, Zgorzelecsection.
- Construction of animal control fencing to reduce amphibian mortality and direct amphibians to ingress and egress points on the AOW (Wrocław Motorway Ring Road).
- Corrections in environmental protection equipment, including the adaptation of small animal crossings for amphibian migration; construction and relocation of a motorway fencing section along the AOW (Wrocław Motorway Ring Road).
- Removal of gaps in the existing amphibian access control and guidance separation system along the A4 motorway between Zgorzelec and Krzyżowa (chainage limits km 3+050 to km 5+850).
- Road fencing along the A4 motorway between Krzyżowa and BielanyWrocławskie.
